Alex had to live through four grueling 28 day cycles of chemotherapy and observation. Each cycle will involve 5-10 days of chemotherapy, 18-23 days of observation, ending with an operation to extract bone marrow and spinal fluid.

During each cycle, usually after the chemo had finished, Alex's immune system was just about non-existant so he has had a plethora of infections.  The worst was towards the end of the last cycle.

Fortunatley, Alex pulled through with the help of the staff at St James's and his family.
